President's Message
The Calgary 2009 WABE Convention has come and gone. As a committee we were very thankful for the great response to the show. In a tough economy our exhibitors and delegates came through again in great form. While the fully paid delegate count was down a bit, the total number of people on the floor exceeded 400 which is a high for the last several years.
This was due in no small part to our exhibitors making a point of inviting local technicians/operators in on a day pass as well as good student representation from SAIT. The people at the Marriott and the Telus Convention Centre did a bang up job and everything ran as smoothly as could be expected. Big kudos to our local committee who just seemed to know exactly what needed to be done to keep it all going on schedule. We are now already planning for Vancouver 2010 and Edmonton 2011. Please let us know if you would like to be on either of those local planning committees. Special thanks have to be extended once more to our sponsoring exhibitors. It is only through their generosity that we are able to continue to put this show on at such a reasonable cost to our delegates.
