President's Message

The 2013 WABE Convention will be located in the beautiful city of Vancouver, at the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre from Nov 3rd to 5th, 2013.

The WABE Committee is very busy planning this year’s convention and the word Go-Kart has been brought up a few times.  If you have never attended this Convention, this is the year to go.  Meeting the exhibitors, being able to ask a question that isn’t emailed or texted is priceless.

It goes without saying; the convention would not be possible without the support of our sponsors, exhibitors, delegates and volunteers.  WABE is always very thankful for the support.

The WABE Education Committee is also pleased to partner with SAIT for the training sessions which will take place June 3 – 7, 2013.  Contact info@wabe.ca for additional information.  Peter Gillespie and his committee have resurrected the Broadcast Technical Training Seminar and early showings of the program prove it will be very informative and well worth attending.

The formed committee each year is always accepting nominees for the various awards handed out.  If you know of a deserving person or group, please send a note to info@wabe.ca.

Thank you again for everyone’s support.  I, along with the committee, look forward to seeing everyone in Vancouver.

Brian Mayer

WABE Education

The WABE Education Committee is tasked with the responsibility of bringing education to the Broadcast technicians of Western Canada.  This can take many forms such as lunch hour seminars, after work social events, and even week long training seminars.  We encourage you to learn more about how you can help WABE’s education initiatives.

MORE INFO

June 18, 2013

The 2013 WABE/SAIT Training session was well attended and by all admissions it was a very educational event for the participants. WABE would like to thank the Gold sponsors who support the industry and who helped make the 2013 training session a huge success:

Many areas of our field were touched upon during the week, from cloud, cable, testing, network, cameras, future thoughts and current concerns. The participants took advantage of asking questions to industry experts and were able to expand their knowledge base.

WABE will support future endeavors to keep this event available, so stay tuned to the WABE dial for information.

WABE would like to thank SAIT for hosting the training event and Wayne Watson for his tireless energy and making sure that everyone is taken care of. WABE is also very thankful to Peter Gillespie and Applied Electronics. Peter was our educational superstar, insuring the week had all the right topics, presenters and kept each day on track.
Thank You very much Peter.

Lastly, thank you to all who attended, we'll look forward to see you all again at the future sessions.
