Our week long annual WABE Technical Training Seminar is taking place again this year at SAIT, June 1st to 5th, 2015. Watch for more details as we put together our sessions program and open registration in March.

WABE Convention Committee
The WABE Convention Committee comprises a handful of individuals who are dedicated to continuing the traditions of the WABE.
Every year, the committee is chosen from those radio, television and IT engineers who reside in the host city of WABE convention. All committee members are volunteer positions and we thank everyone for their hard work and dedication to the WABE and it's annual convention.

This year will bring a very exciting celebration for the WABE organization and we hope that you can join us for our 65th anniversary in the beautiful city of Vancouver on October 18-20th, 2015. There has been such rich history of broadcasting in Western Canada since the humble beginnings of the Western Association of Broadcast Engineers back in 1950. TV was still a few years away but radio had been broadcasting in Western Canada since the early 20’s. Our organization was formed to facilitate the sharing of technical information amongst colleagues. We have seen giant leaps in broadcasting throughout the last 50 years and anticipate to see that continue well into the future. WABE continues to strive to provide industry people with the technical knowledge to enhance their career and benefit their employer.
We hope that you will be able to join us this year in celebrating our history, network with exhibitors and colleagues, see product demonstrations from an array of exhibitors and to take in our technical paper presentations. We are planning some exciting papers that will provide updates on the industry and technology, supply valuable knowledge and some practical practices for the broadcast engineer in both radio and TV.
WABE is so grateful for the ongoing support from the Exhibitors, Delegates, Speakers and Committee volunteers that make this convention worth attending. Thank you to all the sponsors, whose support allows us to have first class events at the convention. It really does take an entire team effort to ensure that WABE remains a viable and an influential association.
We are pleased to be hosted at the lovely Sheraton Wall Centre, in the
heart of downtown Vancouver. If you do require accommodations, we ask that you
book your room with the Sheraton. Our WABE convention registration fee is able
to remain financially feasible through negotiating rates and room nights with
the host hotel. Not meeting the agreed upon minimum room nights may result in
WABE moving in the future to a “convention centre only” model which will result
in registration fees having to increase dramatically. We do understand that
there are circumstances in which bookings must be done according to corporate
policy. But we do ask, if possible,
to support our efforts by booking with our host hotel. For those of you who are
able to book your rooms early (before Sept 18th), you will be entered
to win an early bird prize draw.
Some of the scheduled events to keep in mind:
The WABE Attitude Adjustment will be taking place Sunday, Oct 18th from 17:00 – 19:30 in the Junior Ballroom level 3 North Tower. Drinks and appetizers will be served.
The WABE awards luncheon will be taking place on Monday, Oct 19th at 12:00. This event gives us the opportunity to honour outstanding individuals in the broadcast industry. The Slo-Down Ho-Down event takes place Tuesday, Oct 20th at 18:00. It is guaranteed to be a memorable event!

The WABE Education Committee is tasked with the responsibility of bringing education to the Broadcast technicians of Western Canada. This can take many forms such as lunch hour seminars, after work social events, and even week long training seminars. We encourage you to learn more about how you can help WABE’s education initiatives.
