Start making your plans now to attend the annual the Western Association of Broadcast Engineers annual convention. This year’s convention will be held in downtown Edmonton at the Shaw Conference Centre from Oct 26th to 28th, 2014.
The convention has a long-standing history and is the place to be for meeting exhibitors, catching up with colleagues in both formal and more relaxed atmospheres.
We have a dedicated committee who will ensure this year to be another outstanding show to attend.
WABE is very thankful for the generous support each year from the exhibitors, delegates and volunteers, but the show would not be possible without our sponsors. The committee and organization truly appreciates the support shown towards this event from our sponsors each year.
The formed committee each year is always accepting nominees for the various awards handed out. If you know of a deserving person or group, please send a note to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please note, this year is an election year. The WABE Executive Committee will have an opening for the Secretary/Treasurer position. Names of nominees (WABE members) can be sent in to email@example.com.
Thank you again for everyone’s support. I, along with the committee, look forward to seeing everyone in Edmonton.
The WABE Education Committee is tasked with the responsibility of bringing education to the Broadcast technicians of Western Canada. This can take many forms such as lunch hour seminars, after work social events, and even week long training seminars. We encourage you to learn more about how you can help WABE’s education initiatives.

The 2014 WABE/SAIT Training session was well attended and by all admissions it was a very educational event for the participants. WABE would like to thank the Gold sponsors who support the industry and who helped make the 2014 training session a huge success:
Many areas of our field were touched upon during the week, from Transmitters, Tx site inspections, networking, cloud, fiber, file work flows, OTT, virtualization, signal analysis, future thoughts and current concerns. The participants took advantage of asking questions to industry experts and were able to expand their knowledge base.
The comments from last year's training sessions were carefully considered, so for this year the sessions were divided in TV and Radio papers, with the Radio sessions shortened to 3 days to ensure maximum participation. WABE is very thankful to Bill Stovold who organized the Radio portion of the program. Bill saw a need for radio industry topics and volunteered to make it happen.
WABE will support future endeavors to keep this event available, so stay tuned to the WABE dial for information.
WABE would like to thank SAIT for hosting the training event and Wayne Watson for his tireless energy and making sure that everyone is taken care of. WABE is also very thankful to Peter Gillespie and Applied Electronics. Peter was our educational superstar, insuring the week had all the right topics and presenters.
Unfortunately Peter was not able to attend this years training sessions. Wayne Watson and Michel Proulx stepped in to make sure it all proceeded as Peter intended. Thanks guys.
Lastly, thank you to all who attended, we'll look forward to see you all again at the future sessions and please remember to send in any comments as the goal is to expand your education and knowledge base.
